The Assassin’s Creed franchise has been one of the most successful series launched by the developers at Ubisoft. As we approach the latter half of 2022, the franchise has over a dozen titles and DLCs.

Fans and critics have criticized the franchise for yearly releases instead of taking it slow. However, the franchise’s popularity has remained strong over time. The original Assassin’s Creed was released by Ubisoft back in 2007. The list of our games is in no way exhaustive. However, apart from being fan favorites, they also have been rated relatively high on Metacritic.

Here are the Top 6 Assassin’s Creed that Every Fan Love:

Assassin’s Creed 2:

Leading our list is Assassin’s Creed 2, with one of the most liked protagonists of the entire franchise. Ezio Auditore is indubitably the most liked Assassin amongst all others across other games. Although the game lacks the newer game mechanics, it provides you with the quintessential feel of the franchise; a wholesome experience of the game’s soul.

Released in 2009, the game perfected the free-flowing combat mechanics from the original entry in the series. The location set in renaissance Italy was well designed, with particular attention to detail. What makes it more appealing is the inclusion of actual historical characters such as Leonardo da Vinci.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag:

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is the next on our list. The success of Assassin’s Creed 2 led to high expectations for the following games in the franchise. When Assassin’s Creed 3 was, in general, considered a disappointment, Black Flag was both refreshing as well as well received by fans and critics.

Compared to its predecessor, where the naval combat system had been newly introduced, Ubisoft went ahead and perfected this game mechanic. This went a long way to gaining the popularity this entry has in the series.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood:

This entry has received mixed reviews. However, in retrospect, it is more of a DLC to the less popular Assassin’s Creed 3. However, the perfect implementation of the open-world gameplay style that the franchise has perfected over time.

This is the third game featuring the fan-favorite protagonist Ezio Auditore, and once again, the location details were spot-on. The recreation of renaissance-era Rome was a visual marvel, especially considering that the game was released in 2010.

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey:

Odyssey carries the spirit of the game as an open-world, RPG gameplay style as in Brotherhood. The developers did a fantastic job in perfecting the combat mechanics better than the previous entries in the franchise.

One eye-catching factor you would notice is choosing either a male or a female protagonist. The game also hooks you story-wise, with intricate family drama woven into the storyline.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla:

Released in 2020, this is the latest entry in the franchise. Valhalla is set in the era of the Viking invasion of Britain. The developers decided to build upon what makes the fans love the franchise.

According to several fans, Valhalla is the best open-world game in the franchise. Combining that with the already perfected free-flowing combat mechanics made the fans quite happy about it.

Valhalla will be the game for you if you want to play a more recent game in the franchise with the same feel as the original entries.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity:

Most of you may have differing views on this entry on our list. The commercial success of Unity also does nothing to add ground to this argument. However, once the developers fixed all the bugs, most fans agreed it would be one of the best-looking entries in the franchise thus far.

The game’s uniqueness lies in not only offering the player an open-world experience but also the chance to tackle mission objectives as they feel fit. The parkour movements across the open world have also been perfected compared to the previous entries.

Conclusion:

Although most fans agree that the Assassin’s Creed franchise should take more time between releases, almost all the entries are worth it. The six best games we have enlisted are among the best in the franchise. The developers also understand what the fans like and keep perfecting the mechanics you enjoyed in the previous games.
